“Les Fleurs du Mal” Florian Ladstätter’s latest collection will make its debut in the windows of Parisian boutique Colette on March 4. This special collection ranges from one-off experimental pieces of jewellery to surreal domestic objects.

As part of a still-life installation it will include bespoke crystal mirrors, designed in collaboration with legendary Viennese glasswear company J. & L. Lobmeyer and cut to resemble ornate orchids – the collection’s central motif and inspiration.A limited edition catalogue has specially been conceived to accompany the launch. A foreword by social anthropologist Ted Polhemus debates the triggers of desire and decoration of the human body in the context of Florian’s work, while Penny Martin (SHOWstudio’s editor-in-chief) gets to the root of Florian’s motivation and inspirations. Photographers Danilo Giuliani and Bernd Preiml have realised a series of challenging and stunning images which present entirely novel interpretations of Florian’s work.

getConfused has conceived a special website for this collection: www.florian-design.com.

At last, but by no means least, Vienna’s Mak Museum (which will host an exhibition by Florian at a later date) has provided invaluable financial assistance enabling the catalogue to be produced to the highest standards. To them, and all those who have supported Florian, all that remains to be said is a heartfelt thank you for nurturing his vision and allowing it to flourish beyond his wildest dreams.
