Lebook has been the top fashion directory for the past 25 years and is an international point of reference for visuals. And now the 2009 issue is here, featuring the city of Paris. And the best bit? It’s by Belgian designer Dries Van Noten.

We remember many Lebooks of the past, like the New York issue by Narciso Rodriguez, and Vivienne Westwood’s London issue. Focusing on a particular city, Lebook is an essential directory of photographers, advertising agencies, stylists, art directors, illustrators and much more…
Lebook Paris 2009 by Dries Van Noten comes in a luxurious three-volume pack. The first deals with photography and illustration, the second with production and the third with art direction.
Only eight more days before the entry deadline for »Freistil – The Black Issue«. The annual for young, European illustration promises to be a very special book, for this year we will be exclusively publishing works in black and white. It will be printed in six colours (CMYK + extra black + varnish) and – like the three previous books – with a very special jacket. Of course, Verlag Hermann Schmidt Mainz ensures distribution that will sell the book to the 5,000 most important editorial, advertising and design offices.
The registration deadline (by fax) is 31 October 2008 and we will expect your work by 14 November. You can find all the information at
http://www.freistil-online.com/ under the heading »Entries«. In order to already answer the most frequently asked questions, we have put together a tiny catalogue:
Set up two NEW CHANNELS in Photoshop for the six colours. In addition to cyan, magenta, yellow and black it is possible to set up the two additional colours »extra black« and »varnish«. This also applies to images consisting only of extra black and/or varnish!
The application of all colours (not including varnish) may not exceed 350%. This can be best controlled using the dropper.
Gray-scale images are best portrayed in four-colour mode, line images best in extra black. The varnish may not be half tone, but only applied as a surface.
Coco presented her latest project, “Forget me not”, during the Paris Fashion Week. It consists of a series of digital prints on soft accessories, mostly scarves, all 100% silk. As an extension of her work as an illustrator, ( cocopit.biz ) all designs are based exclusively on personal compositions and all elements have been hand-drawn by her.
On top of scarves, she am also collaborating on a small line of couture head accessories (turbans, hats and small headbands) with Yasmin Rizvi whose talent has already been met with critical acclaim: Yasmin just received On|Off’s Visionary Award September 2008 and was The Hat Designer of the Year 2008.

This first collection (S/S 09), ”Diamantiferous”, is based on a series of three sets, all dedicated to the encounter of gems with several creatures - birds, insects and butterflies. The three female faces which appear in the works play a central part, with their own signification but also the continuity they establish with my work as a fashion illustrator.
